I actually had no intention of sharing it. I thought it would be one and done. Play it at her birthday and let that be that. Even though it represented my feelings well and I was proud of the way it came out, I thought it was a little too personal, too specific, maybe even too sentimental (I know we’ve talked about that being a concern of mine). But after hearing it, she and a few friends thought it might be worthy of a life beyond the party. So for now, I’ll share it on here beyond the paywall. Think love song from the likes of a Randy Newman or Loudon Wainwright. Get in that headspace. There’s no chance of it being on the next record though. That sucker is done and this song was written well after.
